The Kansas Statehouse Restoration project is a 4 year, $23 million facade restoration project of the historical Kansas State Capitol. Repairs include removing and replacing over 4,000 limestone units, some weighing over 2500 lbs! In addition, MARK 1 will clean the entire building using a combination of biocides and specialized stain removers. Other tasks, such as tuckpointing, stone patching, epoxy injection and large dutchman repairs, are also in our scope of work.

Project Highlight/Challenge
Over 2,000 partial stone “Dutchman” repairs will be completed using a technique that will blend them with the remaining stones making repairs virtually undetectable. MARK 1 erected a complex scaffold system that allows all work within a phase of work to be accessed at one time using both pipe scaffolding and mast climbers.
